One of the most well known North American Lizards. They are widely known even in areas that they are not native because of the pet trade. Often sold under the alias "American Chameleon." Green Anoles are native to the Southeastern part of the United States. In Texas they are found in East, Central and South Texas. Often either green, brown or alittle bit of both in coloration. They are active daytime lizards. Fairly common lizards around buildings in Texas. They eat spiders and insects. Male anoles are territorial and will establish territories. They do this by bobbing their heads and signaling their dewlaps at other males, rarely do these interactions leads to physical fights.
