Family: Alaudidae

Only two species in this family are represented in North America. They usually found in open habitat, such as beaches, short grass prairies and scrub lands. Horned Larks are found throughout North America, but the Sky Lark is a rare Asian vagrant. An introduced population of British Sky Larks has established itself in Vancouver, Canada (Sibley 2001).
