Type of Scales: Smooth, Granular scales

Southwestern Earless Lizards are found throughout West Texas, Southern and Central parts of New Mexico and Southeast Arizona. Males Southwestern Earless Lizards are much more colorful than male Texas Earless Lizards (Cophosaurus t. texanus ). The male Southwestern subspecies have shades of pink and green on their bodies. Both subspecies share the black crossbars on ventral side of the tail.
