Type of Scales: Smooth, Granular scales

Of the three subpsecies of the Eastern Collared Lizard found in Texas, the Chihuahuan Collared Lizard has the smallest range. It is only found in El Paso county, most of its range is in New Mexico and Mexico. This subspecies does not have the greens and blues that exist in the Eastern & Western subspecies. They are often found in hilly areas with lots of rocks to hide under, such as desert canyons.
