One of the most common lizards found in Texas cities.  Mediterranean Geckos (Med Geckos) are found throughout Southeast to South Texas, with isolated populations in every major city in Texas (El Paso, Dallas, For Worth). There is also an isolated popuation at Big Bend National Park. Texans are shocked to find out that this species is actually an exotic species. In addition to Texas, there are many isolated populations throughout the Southeast United States. Mediterranean Geckos are examples of exotic animals that do not have a big impact on the native ecosystem. They are closely associated with man, their bond with humanity has been so long that scientists don't really know what their original wild habitat looks like. Med Geckos are strictly nocturnal and are often found on walls by night lights. During the day, they hide in cracks and behind objects close to or by walls. They are insectivores lizards, that actively chase their prey on walls, electrical boxes and other items that are mounted on or by walls.
