The Diamond-backed Water Snake is known as the largest and more aggressive of all of Texas' water snakes. They are common missidentified as Western Cottonmouths because of their girth and their tempermant. A fairly common water snake that is found all over the state except Western and Northwestern part of the state. They feed on amphibians and fish. Even adult Diamond-backed Water Snakes are agile enough to catch Cricket Frogs.
