Type of Shell: Hard, oval and elongated shells.
This species is only found in Texas. They range from North Texas to Central Texas to the central section of the Texas Gulf Coast. Texas River Cooters are mainly found in rivers, but can also be found in ponds and other nonmoving bodies of water. Females tend to get to almost a foot in length, while the male are around six to eight inches in length. They resemble Map Turtles, but they don't have a keel on the top of their carapace.
