Another snake species are specializes on crayfish, although fish and amphibians make up a small amount of the diet. Most specimens don't grow larger than 30 inches. They are usually shy and don't attempt to bite, most individuals will defend themselves by expelling musk, some will strike at their attacker. Graham's Crayfish Snakes are found along the upper Gulf Coast and in isolated populations in North-east and North to South-central Texas. Records for this species are fairy limited in Texas due to their secretive nature. This species was named in honor of James Duncan Graham(1799-1865), who was a topographical engineer for ths US Army.
