The Gulf Crayfish Snake is one of two species of Crayfish Snakes found in Texas. They specialize in eating crayfish,but is also known to eat aquatic invertebrates, fish and amphibians. Most specimens are under 24 inches long. This species has a very distinct belly marking. LIke most aquatic snakes, they will musk when they are picked up but usually will not bite.
