Texas Patch-nosed Snakes are found throughout North central, Central and South Texas. They are a slender, medium sized (2 to 3 feet in length), diurnal snake that can move at a fairly rapid pace. This species is found in variety of habitats such as woodlands, grasslands, rocky hillsides and dry limestone creek beds. In Central Texas, this species can be found in the woodlands of Brackenridge Field Laboratory to the grassland areas and dry creek beds of Barton Creek Habitat Preserve. There hasn't been a lot of research on the wild diets of this species, but it is well known that lizards and small rodents are part of its diet.
