Eastern Black-necked Garter Snakes are found from central Texas to alittle West of the Pesos River. This is the eastern subspecies of the Western Black-necked Garter Snake (Thamnophis c. cyrtopsis). Like other Garter Snakes they mainly eat fish and amphibians. They live in one of the most driest areas of Texas, but are always found close to water. This species is one of the most common snakes at Barton Springs Greenbelt in Austin, Texas.
